A newspaper that sets out to show China as the foreign press reports it is tempted to correct that press. Waijing does not. The correction would be a second paper, written from the inside, and that paper already exists in many versions.

What is scarce is the outside view, gathered in one place, in Mandarin and in English, with the domestic outlets left out on purpose. That is the whole of the editorial line.
