Waijing opens as a daily paper on Sunday, 1 November 2026 UTC. Until then the site shows only the inaugural number. That number says what the paper is. It is not a report about China.

After the opening, announcements are for the paper itself: a day off, a correction, a change of address. They are not a news desk.
